Watch my Prickly Pear grow

There is this place up in Hollywood, called the Runyon Canyon, a popular hiking spot for many and a home to a nice variety of native plants, which are easily overlooked. This leaf fell off a big cactus growing on the corner as you approach a private barn house. You may know it if you live in LA, people scribble their names on that cactus all the time (which I have a hard time appreciating), so it looks like it’s on a verge of decay all the time and is hard to not notice. I have to tell you it left my fingers hurting for a week or so, after I picked this guy up. It has been a couple years and this summer it decided to finally start growing. Follow its life with me as I can’t wait for it to flower one day.
