Maybe you guessed it right, you were blessed to see more pictures and updates on succulents as I was blessed to be given some more succulents by my dear neighbor Cindy. I have to admit, for a person who was never religiously interested in succulents I’m pretty successful at collecting them so far. So much so that I am invested in saving them more than ever now and monitoring the progress.
First, we had to storm our friends Nikki and Seth’s apartment looking for our estranged cat Pasha who happened to be hiding in their bathroom cabinet for two days only to find a dying collection of succulents on their balcony as a bonus, and now Cindy. Cindy! Where are you going??!
But this whole situation with succulents is teaching me so far, DO NOT be interested in things…, don’t say a word…to anybody, not even as a joke. Things will come to you, cause THEY know you need them. And once they do, you’ll discover the full potential of human obsession and sacrifice, trust me.
All I was trying to say, you will be seeing some updates on a vast collection of succulents we NOW have in the Garden Imperfect.
Here is my fresh addition to the succulent family

Left: Haworth Aeonium (Tree Houseleeks) Right: Ghost Plant Succulents

Haworthia Zebra Plant. This one is gonna go through some tuning process.

I’m going to vent for a quick bit. That Zebra plant by the way, of Haworthias genus, looks more like a hedgehog to me. I will take it upon myself to change both plants’ and hiking trail names from now on, because I’ve started to realize as of recently that they are all way off.
Let’s proceed:)…
I want to recommend a few products I apply and use with success when planting and taking care of succulents.

Succulents appreciate loose soil and the best substrate I have found would be a special mix for cacti. It doesn’t take much to make your own substrate with some sand and perlite but I choose to purchase a complete mix. However, I will list the amendments I do add to this purchased mix. This cactus mix by Kellogg is by far the best I use, religiously. I use it for succulents, some trees and for my Prickly Pear Cactus. I mix in and add a good quarter inch of this fine lava sand on the top. You may choose to add some Lava Rock as well. Succulents thrive on micro nutrients, so I complete my prepared substrate with a small addition of iron and this environmentally friendly micro nutrients. Lava Sand plays a vital role for some tropical plants as well, as it contains the essential micro nutrients. If you have plants like Coffee and Cacao don’t hesitate to add lava sand or finely crushed lava rock.
By the way, I met this person in the garden that day and informed him I’ll expose him on the Internet if he continues intimidating me with his looks. And he did, he was on the top of the fence behind me and had “I’m about to jump on you” written all over his face when I turned. But, he is a pretty model and he reminds me of someone precious.
I think we connected on a spiritual level, chatting about the meanings of life and personal fulfillment.
