In case You are left on the side of the Road.

You are one of the tough ones. You will flower again.

Being pruned, burned, dehydrated? Plants are no strangers to the struggles we face.

One day I came across this Taro Plant in my backyard. Right, I did not put it there. Midday Los Angeles, who knows, It just appeared.

Maybe, I should have asked the neighbors. But most of the time, why bother?

It looked upset, the pot was filled with dried up potting mix of sorts and it was all I needed to know.

As I later found out, Taro plants (some say “elephant ears”) are native to Southeast Asia and Southern India (Tropical Climate Zone). They are typically found in wetland areas like swamps, riverbanks, and other areas with moist, rich soil. They can even tolerate waterlogged conditions. I learned they rarely flower in the Mediterranean climate, unless proper environment is provided. These are very tough and resilient plants from my newly acquired experience.

After a couple of therapy sessions, it did FLOWER. For me.

It must have found that being placed by the west facing wall, planted in a 7 gal pot was a “proper environment”. The soil I used contains Zero organic matter, no compost.

The Simpler the appearance the more Fragrant your Flower.
