Garden Imperfect Plants

Welcome to Garden Imperfect Plants!

It all starts with seeds, and then whatever happens.

Garden Imperfect is a variety of native and not so native plants. Our backyard nursery is located in Southern California, a beautiful home to gophers and possums of all sizes.

This garden idea sprouted with a rotten avocado fruit, back in 2016. The seed was sprouted inside the fruit to my surprise. I didn’t think much of it and threw away both.

Trust me, I regretted this decision every time I tried sprouting any Avocado seed moving forward.

One faithful day, a garden section at Lowes inspired me to fill the pot with soil and repurpose a few apple seeds. They came up without asking me any unnecessary questions. And so my OCD began. I religiously planted every seed I came across, just to see if they make it, and they did.

Except the Avocado seeds of course.

I had planted everything from berries to Eucalyptus Trees ever since and gained tremendous knowledge along the way. So you can learn from me.

Some plants are more agreeable than others. But,

Everything is simple if you let it.

You will see some of these plants in my blog.

It’s “imperfect” because nature doesn’t hide the worst. I won’t hide it either. I will share how they age and I will share how they die if they do.

I am against pesticides. The ecosystem created in a small garden space like this with beneficial bugs and bacteria will take care of itself and teach you patience.

If one disease is so bad that you can not control it, let it go. The stronger plants will adapt and the weaker once will get stronger. They are not created equal.

Plants grown from seeds are far superior to those that were grafted.

Manure Talk

The aged chicken manure can do wonders and may just be enough for your garden in place of all other fertilizing options you may not have a budget for. Be careful with the tropical plants, they burn easily, choose compost or mulch over chemicals, it’s much safer.
